Bedazzled

I recently met Bobby Schandra for coffee. The next week, I met him for lunch. Seems I can't get enough of the accessories designer these days, or maybe I just can't get enough of the gems that he brings with him each time we meet. With designing and business in his blood, Schandra's talent is not surprising, yet I still find myself "oohing and aahing" each time I see a new piece of his meticulously detailed collection. Whether it's his uber-stylish/uber-functional parachute bags, his gorgeous day or night cocktail rings or his shockingly reasonably priced bling-bling watches, Shandra will undoubtedly have something that catches your eye and demands to join your accessories collection.

The Dallasite and Magna Cum Laude Texas Tech graduate was raised by a family involved in the diamond industry. After college and a six-month stint in Italy, he worked for Johnson and Johnson as a pharmaceuticals rep before delving into the accessories business.

Schandra handbags make a statement. When asked about his current focus with bags, Schandra says, "I like to think of it as the 3 P's: purple, patent and python." What I love personally about his bags (beyond aesthetics and the economical price-point) is that they all seem to have adorable, diminutive pockets in just the right places for my Blackberry, my keys and even for my Lip Fusion. As a girl-on-the-go, I crave a functional/fashionable hybrid and Schandra accomplishes this with sheer success.

As you've seen on the red carpets and on our favorite celebrities recently, cocktail rings have made a comeback and are bolder than ever. "The bold people are getting bolder and the elegant people are moving towards the color gold," states Schandra in reference to jewelry trends. He's been adding brushed gold to some of his Italian silver pieces to accommodate all tastes. Schandra's bedazzling rings are the perfect match for an evening outing and will colorfully jazz up a daytime sundress. Like his bags, his finger fashion is also affordable, so affordable in fact, that we recommend wearing two at a time. After all, this is Dallas ladies, can we ever be too accessorized?

Schandra has a showroom in the Dallas World Trade Center and his website is: www.schandra.com. You can also see some of his collection on www.accessorysnob.com and in upscale retailers including the Ritz Carlton.
