The Element of Surprise

By Lori Dennard

Elements has been serving the Dallas fashionista her craving of the perfect mixture of chic and unique since 1999. Owner, Connie Sigel, has created a way of keeping her customers' wardrobes fresh and current by offering innovative versions of popular designer lines. The boutique's unprecedented service is built upon a laid-back vibe that surrounds you as you enter.  It feels natural when you're approached by their warm stress-free style - like you brought along a pal to shop with you.

There was a time when Elements was only a dream in Connie Sigel’s mind as she pondered what her future might hold. The SMU graduate, realized that maybe her finance degree wasn't something that she wanted to pursue. “Finance is a subject that would bore me too quickly to make a career out of it. At this point, I was configuring how one could go from finance to fashion. Store ownership was always something I could see myself doing," Connie says. Starting her career in fashion at the Dallas Apparel Mart was a way for Sigel to see the industry from many angles. When the timing was right, Connie made the choice to make her mark on the side that is closest to the customer. Inspiration for Elements rose from the desire to provide the Dallas fashion-scene with a dose of what Connie calls, “a quick find of unique and undiscovered talent."

Elements offers only the most exciting brands and freshest styles of the season; the merchandise selection has set a high-standard among specialty boutiques in the surrounding area. Currently, Elements features chic labels such as M by Missoni, Alice + Olivia and Diane Von Furstenberg. In addition, you will find European designers who are exclusive to Elements, such as Malene Birger and Rutzou.

If you're searching for a new pair of jeans, Elements can help you find a pair that the other women in your circle don’t already own. That seems hard to do these days with premium denim being mainstream fashion. Earnest Sewn, Habitual, Anlo, True Religion and J Brand are a few of the brands you'll find. And if you don't scoop up the perfect pair at Elements, go next door to Elle by Elements. Sigel opened Elle in 2007 after becoming motivated to open a second store that caters more to the younger customer of Elements. “My inspiration for Elle was to have a storefront that provides a better selection of jeans and T’s as well as clothing that has designer appeal for a better price-point." Elle may offer a more light-hearted vibe, but it holds true to the company’s policy of grand customer service.

These two next-door neighbors are a double threat and a double treat. It's refreshing to know that there's still a place to find innovative and hip fashion in a time when the market seems to have taken on a drab and repetitive theme. If you want to take part in something new, something with a bright outlook, stop by Elements and find the fashion you've been searching for.

Elements is located at 4400 Lovers Ln, Dallas.
