It’s almost as if the free and funky attitude of Austin is creeping up I-35, all the way into the Bishop Arts District of Oak Cliff. Nothing says this more than Bolsa, a neighborhood favorite for the past two years that is garnering city wide attention as a groovy spot for good eats, cocktails and ambience. Now that patio weather is here, Bolsa is thriving with their spacious corner terrace and cushioned picnic-style tables. The two-way bar where guests can saunter up for a drink inside or outside the restaurant is also a hit, and the fresh yet affordable cocktail list can’t be beat. Their frozen drinks are mixed with sorbet instead of ice to create a perfect, silky texture, and the South on 75—Strawberry infused tequila with elderflower liqueur and champagne—is a must-try. The fresh, organic produce and ever-changing menu items also keep guests coming back for more, especially for their take on bruschetta: four slices with different toppings, like salmon and capers or apple with pine nuts. The best part: the chef is a bee keeper, which may explain his use of a light honey drizzled over the dish.
